Good Evening, Fellow Legionnaires,
American Legion University Veterans Post 360 held its September Membership Meeting this morning at Legion Post 34 in Broad Ripple. Members present discussed a number of issues and matters of interest to the Post.
LEADERSHIP: Among the topics discussed was a realignment of leadership positions in accordance with changing member schedules and availability. Nominations were received and voted upon. The Post leadership roster going forward is as follows (* indicates new position):
Kevin Mezger: Commander*
Eric Thomas: Adjutant*
Clinton Holsinger: Vice Commander* (Long-Range Planning)
Josh Black: Vice Commander* (Community/Fundraising)
Aaron Widner: Vice Commander* (Membership)
Kim Mezger: Vice Commander (Communications); Historian*
Todd Ancher: Finance Officer
Winnie Wilson: Service Officer
Juan Trejo: Judge Advocate
Ben Stout: Sergeant-At-Arms
Phil Eggleston: Chaplain
MEMBERSHIP: In order to reach Post 360 membership goals for the year, please mail in your 2012-13 membership renewals as soon as you can. Better yet, do your renewal online at: www.legion.org/renew. Let Adjutant Eric Thomas know if you need your Legion membership number to do this (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Also, we are pushing recruitment heavy for the next two weeks. We’d like to see each current member send us one new American Legion recruit by the beginning of October. If you’re not sure what to do, check out www.legionpost360.org/become-a-member, or just ask by replying to this email.
EXTENSION INSTITUTE: Are you ready to learn more of what The American Legion is all about? Extension Institute is an online course of study on the history, programs, policies, developments, positions, and future goals of The American Legion. The web course takes 60-90 minutes and $4.95 to complete. Those who successfully pass the program will receive an ALEI Graduate cap pin. Access the course at this link: www.legion.org/alei.
EMERGENCY FUNDS: The American Legion has a national program called Temporary Financial Assistance (TFA) that provides cash grants to minor children of veterans who are eligible for American Legion membership. These grants help families in need meet the cost of shelter, food, utilities, and health expenses, thereby keeping the child or children in a more stable environment. Please note: The parent/veteran doesn’t have to be a Legion member — only ELIGIBLE for membership. Especially as the weather gets colder, please keep TFA in mind for veteran families that you know. Contact Service Officer Winnie Wilson (email@example.com) if you have questions or would like an application.
POST T-SHIRTS: We are in the process of designing and printing Post 360 T-Shirts. Please contact Commander Kevin Mezger ASAP (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you will step up to help with design ideas or you have T-Shirt printing contacts.
